At first the island seems to be a paradise, but in the end is more like a hell.
By looking precisely you can find many themes, which are interwoven with each other.
The most obvious theme is the necessity of civilization.
Contrary to the opinion, that human are innocent and society is evil, the story shows that laws and rules are necessary to keep the darkness human nature in line, otherwise human revert to a more primitive part of their nature.
Golding presents us different types of power. The democratic power, when everyone can choose and it's allowed to have his own opinion.
Authorithian power when one person reigns with cruelty and violence. In the most cases this power based on indiscriminating.
Another theme would be the fear uf unknown. The recognition that no real beast exists, that this is only the power of fear, is one of the deepest meaning of the story.
And the third sort of power is the spiritual, which attempts to connect the external and internal realities.
Vielen herzlichen Dank
Gruss DInker
