Nicht nur deshalb fällt es schwer, sich für eine der südlichsten Inseln der Kleinen Antillen vor der Küste Venezuelas zu entscheiden.

Die Tradition des Mas, wie der Karneval hier genannt wird, wurde zwar von einigen anderen Karibikinseln übernommen, jedoch behaupten die Einwohner Trinidads nach wie vor, bei ihnen würde der Karneval am ausgiebigsten gefeiert und wer einmal dabei war, wird das bestätigen können.

Seasonal variations in temperature are nearly negligable, because of the proximity to the equator.

"Although" ist eine Konjunktion, die kannst du nicht mitten in deinen Satz schreiben:

the residents of Trinidad still claim that carneval is celebrated most extensively by them -
everyone who once took part in it is able to confirm this.
